This sounds good – a definite must for a visitor to England’s Lake District. Honister Slate Mine has opened Britain’s first Via Ferrata. Having been to Honister before, and admittedly not over been over-impressed, this sounds like a wonderful new innovation, and one that will help a new generation understand a little of the everyday working lives of the slate miners.
Off-topic, I know, but if you’re in the area visit The Lakeland Pedlar wholefood cafe, in Keswick. Their website is in need of a long overdue update, but the food and drink in the cafe itself is the best in the area.
